Big Sur Elopement

The dreamiest day of my life — October, 5th 2019.

I could not have imagined this day to be any more perfect than it was. Everything fell into place in such a short amount of time and I can only thank one person for that, my guardian angel Mason Paul Camarillo. He is the reason Charlie and I decided to get married on a whim in the first place. I’ll never forget the moment I thought I had lost all hope in ever finding happiness again. Little did I know my son was looking out for me. He sent me a sign. He gave me hope. Hope for happiness again. He brought our family closer than we’d ever been. This day means so much more to me then anyone could ever imagine.

When Charlie and I lost our son Mason, we were stuck in a dark place. I wanted nothing more then to find a reason. A reason to be happy again. That’s when it dawned on us. We’d been together going on 6 years and gave life to two beautiful children. One earth side and the other in heaven, but none the less TWO children. The only thing that Charlie and I did not have together was a bond by marriage. Yes, we did things a little backwards but I’m slowly learning that life doesn’t always go how you plan it. I had forever imagined my wedding day to be this extravagant day, something I knew would go down in the books as one of the most amazing days in my life. As a little girl you envision this idea of what your wedding day would look like. I hold myself to some pretty high standards when it comes to throwing parties or hosting events. So if I am being quiet frank the only reason Charlie and I were not married before this was mainly because I couldn’t make up my mind. It started to feel like were practically already married just without the paperwork anyway. So like many other things in life I pushed it to the side in hopes that one day I would feel inspired enough to start planning. That’s when life threw me a nasty curve ball and knocked me right on my butt. That moment we lost our son I knew Charlie and I were destined for each other. Not that I didn’t feel that way about him before but it’s like something in me just clicked and said, “now is the time.” I believe that Mason sent us that sign.

So thanks to him, it all came together. In less than three short months after his passing we were married. We booked a 1969 VW Bus from (Vintage Bus Adventure & Outdoorsy) drove it up the coast, camped out in Big Sur, one of my favorite places in all of California. Stayed at the (Ventana Resort) the night of our wedding, and had our closest family by our sides. Everything from the flowers (Big Sur Flowers) , to the cake (Sweet Reba’s) , to the videographer (Josh Harney Productions) and photographer (Shannon Yen Photography) came together in such a short amount of time and turned out better than I ever imagined it would. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
