Easter Basket Inspiration 2021 Edition

Well here we are again! I can’t believe it’s been a year that we’ve been in this pandemic. Time sure has flown by. It feels like not much has changed, but so much has! Easter is right around the corner and I’m excited to share my yearly Easter Basket Inspiration Blog Post with all of you!

Most of these items I bought myself from some of my favorite small shops online. I find it extremely heart warming knowing that the money I spent on these items are going towards supporting small shops and their families. I did however partner with a few brands who did gift me some items. I am forever grateful to be able to work with these brands. I always want to be very transparent when I am sharing product recommendations, which ones are gifted and which ones I purchased myself. I never want to mislead anyone or make anyone feel like they need to purchase something because I am sharing it. This post is purely for inspiration and ideas for things you could possibly fill your kiddos baskets with! I hope you enjoy this post, and as always thanks for stopping by! I will be tagging all of items from the small shops below that I purchased from, along with the items that were gifted.

Hoppy Easter + shopping my friends!

Big Sur Elopement

The dreamiest day of my life — October, 5th 2019.

I could not have imagined this day to be any more perfect than it was. Everything fell into place in such a short amount of time and I can only thank one person for that, my guardian angel Mason Paul Camarillo. He is the reason Charlie and I decided to get married on a whim in the first place. I’ll never forget the moment I thought I had lost all hope in ever finding happiness again. Little did I know my son was looking out for me. He sent me a sign. He gave me hope. Hope for happiness again. He brought our family closer than we’d ever been. This day means so much more to me then anyone could ever imagine.

When Charlie and I lost our son Mason, we were stuck in a dark place. I wanted nothing more then to find a reason. A reason to be happy again. That’s when it dawned on us. We’d been together going on 6 years and gave life to two beautiful children. One earth side and the other in heaven, but none the less TWO children. The only thing that Charlie and I did not have together was a bond by marriage. Yes, we did things a little backwards but I’m slowly learning that life doesn’t always go how you plan it. I had forever imagined my wedding day to be this extravagant day, something I knew would go down in the books as one of the most amazing days in my life. As a little girl you envision this idea of what your wedding day would look like. I hold myself to some pretty high standards when it comes to throwing parties or hosting events. So if I am being quiet frank the only reason Charlie and I were not married before this was mainly because I couldn’t make up my mind. It started to feel like were practically already married just without the paperwork anyway. So like many other things in life I pushed it to the side in hopes that one day I would feel inspired enough to start planning. That’s when life threw me a nasty curve ball and knocked me right on my butt. That moment we lost our son I knew Charlie and I were destined for each other. Not that I didn’t feel that way about him before but it’s like something in me just clicked and said, “now is the time.” I believe that Mason sent us that sign.

So thanks to him, it all came together. In less than three short months after his passing we were married. We booked a 1969 VW Bus from (Vintage Bus Adventure & Outdoorsy) drove it up the coast, camped out in Big Sur, one of my favorite places in all of California. Stayed at the (Ventana Resort) the night of our wedding, and had our closest family by our sides. Everything from the flowers (Big Sur Flowers) , to the cake (Sweet Reba’s) , to the videographer (Josh Harney Productions) and photographer (Shannon Yen Photography) came together in such a short amount of time and turned out better than I ever imagined it would. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.

A Unique Wooden Watch on Valentine’s Day for her!

It’s that time of year again, it’s the month to celebrate with the people you love and who matter the most to you. This year for Valentine’s Day we are celebrating in style. I was very lucky to have been gifted this beautiful and unique wooden women’s watch by Jord Watches. It is exactly my style, minimal and hand crafted of raw natural materials. I love the large face, and all of the small details that makes this watch so unique and versatile with any outfit I chose to wear.  I absolutely love how this wooden watch looks by itself or when I dress it up and wear bracelets with it. It is super comfortable and easy to take on and off. When I am not wearing my gorgeous wooden watch I am keeping it stored in the box it came in to preserve it and keep it looking nice. I have the Frankie Series in Koa and Ash. They have a really wonderful selection of men’s watches too. Can you guess what Charlie wants for Valentine’s Day next year? They also give you the option to engrave your loved ones watch if you choose, which I think makes it even more personal and meaningful. This is the type of gift you can cherish for a lifetime! This Valentine’s Day I am grateful to able to spend this quality time with my fiancé, and to be able to look down at my unique wooden watch and cherish every moment. This truly is such a wonderful gift to give and have personalized if you’re still looking for something to gift to that special someone in your life.
Also for those of you who may be interested in purchasing one of these gorgeous wooden watches head over to my Instagram Page (link in bio) where I am hosting a Giveaway (or click the giveaway link) with Jord Watches for a chance to win $100 toward your very own Wooden Watch! Everyone who enters also gets a 10% off consolation prize (expires 2/25). The contest ends 2/11 11:59pm. So head over now and enter for your chance to win!

Welcome to my Blog

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. First I would like to just say that making a blog from scratch is not easy. So major props to all of you savvy bloggers out there who make it look so easy lol. I would consider myself semi-tech smart but now that I have had the time to see how much work really goes into it, I can say first hand it’s no “slice of cake”.

You’re all probably wondering, “oh great another basic blogger chick” but I aim to be quite the opposite. I am going to focus my content on budget friendly fashion, savvy shopping tips, + beauty secrets that only a pro *10 years on the job force* could know. I have a lot to share so get ready!

A brief little history on me — I am 28 years old. I am a part-time working mother of one fabulous daughter named Riley Nichole. She is almost 3, and wild as can be! I am a devoted lover & spouse to my fiancé Charlie. I work 3 (yes 3) part-time jobs… so maybe that technically makes me a full-time working mom? But I love what I do, so I don’t consider it work at all. I work as a freelance artist for CHANEL on their L.A Core Team. I also work at a small mom & pop beauty shop/salon near where I live in Valencia. I love this job specifically because of the owner. She is wonderful, flexible, and a great boss. Lastly, I am a licensed Cosmetologist of 10 years so I have my own side business where I freelance doing hair + makeup for events & weddings. I am a Sagittarius, so I am stubborn but driven — which in turn I guess makes perfect sense of who I really am. (I was never huge on horoscopes). If you’re still intrigued after reading all of that then hit the subscribe button below & join me in some crazy…. but mostly fun posts to come!

Easter Basket Inspiration – Quarentine Edition

Given the current state of the world at the moment Easter looks a little different this year, but you know what that’s okay because we are all in this together. I improvised and used a basket that I already had, threw in a few items I already had that I was holding onto for a special occasion, and thank goodness for the Target Dollar Spot. (Yes I picked these few items up while doing my “essential grocery shopping” so sue me… lol) So not everything is brand new but it’s the thought that counts.

I am beyond grateful for the amazing small shops that collaborated with me to help create this beautiful basket for my daughter this year. Most of these small shops are offering expedited shipping, and contactless curbside pickups. If you order today, or tomorrow you should still be able to get your items in time for Easter. If you’re still looking to fill your kiddo’s baskets with some fun items check out these shops below! I highly recommend them.

Remember, it’s not what’s in the basket that matters the most, it’s the love that you put into it. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Easter.

Riley’s Rainbows + Unicorns Birthday Party

So this past weekend my little girl turned four. I can hardly believe it. We had a blast celebrating her birthday at this beautiful park in Santa Clarita, CA where we live. (We threw her third birthday party here last year.) The views are stunning, the park is close by and the best part about throwing a party at this park is if you get there early enough to “claim” your spot you don’t have to pay! You guys know me, I’m a baller on a budget and I like things to look nice, but for a certain price. So we got to the park at 6:30AM for set up and the party started at 11AM. Being that I am 8 months pregnant the set up this time around was a little harder than I thought, and I gave myself high expectations of how I wanted this party to look. (Pregnant Problems lol) After all said and done though, I can’t complain the party was a hit and it turned out looking better than I envisioned. I may be a little extra sometimes (especially being that this party was only for a four year old but hey that’s who I am, take it or leave it!) I will be listing all of the products/brands/companies I purchased from and also collaborated with to make this dream rainbow unicorn party come to life.

Easter Basket Inspiration

Hey you guys it’s that time of the year again! Easter, and this year I really made it a point to make it extra special for my daughter by customizing her basket with a bunch of fun goodies from small shops that I absolutely adore! (Note: most of these small shops I collaborated with so the items were gifted). The other items in my baskets I picked up locally from the Target dollar spot. *Disclaimer* whether or not you go all out for Easter and buy your kids tons of things, or you just celebrate the day with them YOU are doing any amazing job. This blog post is purely for inspiration! I will be listing all of the small shops below along with tagging a photo with a link to all of the items. Most of these can still be ordered in time for Easter (some with the request of expedited shipping). I hope you all enjoy these photos & that they provide some fun Easter Basket Inspiration! Due to timing some of the items listed below didn’t make it into the basket in time but I am still adding the links below to them! Thank you to all of these amazing small shops & brands for working with me on this fun little collaboration!

Both of the baskets were from Target. Along with the stuffed carrots, mini sunnies, garden tools, both press on nail sets, the wooden eggs, the ceramic bunny, the white ceramic house, and the basket filling, those were all found in the Target dollar spot.

My New Diet + Lifestyle as a Vegan. Personal choice or Medically necessary?

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve done a full blown personal blog post, so I figured I would get real deep with you all and let you in on why I have been a little distant here on my blog, and on social media. First things first, I am not writing this for any kind of sympathy or for attention. I am merely wanting to share my story in hopes that someone else out there who is going through the same thing finds my blog post and knows that they are not alone in this.

So here we go. Yes, I know the term “Vegan” gets thrown around a lot, especially in Los Angeles, the city where I live. However, I feel like now a days it is more accepted in society to make the elective choice to quit eating meat, and cutting out all dairy products or any substances that come in contact with animals. It’s actually quiet good for your overall health and there are SO many ways to get the nutrients your body needs without those things. The hardest part for me, is giving up the foods I once loved. Of course I miss bacon cheeseburgers, and bbq’d chicken wings, and the perfectly cooked filet minion. But my body psychically cannot process any of those things anymore, and here is why.

Let’s rewind for a moment, 3 months ago I started noticing that I was having pains in my lower back and abdomen. Being that I ate fairly healthy, exercised weekly and I wouldn’t consider myself “super skinny” but I am also not obese either the first thing that came to my mind was, “oh no it’s my kidney or my liver”. I thought that maybe I had been taking too much Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen and had caused some major damage to my vital organs. I have never in my life had this kind of stabbing pain, so I immediately scheduled an appointment to see my primary care doctor. After a few weeks of waiting to get in, she set me up for an ultrasound to get a closer look at what was going on. After hearing about the results from the ultrasound I was now extremely worried and asked my doctor what the next exam was that I could do for a more in depth reading. She suggested a CT scan. If you guys don’t already know this about me, I absolutely hate injections. I don’t mind needles but injections make my skin crawl. Something about a foreign substance being injected into my body rubs me the wrong way. With that being said if you’re reading this and you’ve never had a CT scan yourself I personally say unless you absolutely need it and it’s medically necessary then avoid it at all costs. They injected me with iodine contrast so that all my organs would light up for them to see. This was such a horrible sensation, my whole body got hot as if I was having a hot flash and then it gave me major anxiety. Needless to say I got through it and got my results back that everything looked good except for a “fold in my gallbladder”. which apparently is a  common thing I never knew about. This is where it gets tricky. My doctor calls me and tells me I am fine, all my test results came back normal. However, I was still getting these horrible sharp stabbing pains. So of course I did what any person would do, I googled my symptoms along with “folded gallbladder” and low and behold there it all was. EXACTLY how I was feeling, down every last detail. So I took initiative myself (because YOU are your best advocate, no one else is going to do it for you) I decided to make the switch in my diet to becoming a Vegan. I started off slow, I cut out all meats except for fish. I have already been lactose intolerant my entire life so I knew I couldn’t have any kind of dairy. I also knew I had a history of acid reflux. So that’s where the decision of becoming a Vegan came into play, over becoming a Vegetarian. It was pretty self explanatory, I knew I was going to need to commit 100% to this diet in order for me to be able to tell if this was going to work for me. So I did, and I still am. I can confidently say it is working, and helping tremendously with the pains I was having. Obviously everything in life is trial and error so I am still testing out the waters, but so far my overall lifestyle and spirit feels uplifted. I don’t get headaches or migraines nearly as often, I don’t wake up overly tired, I sleep better and my mood has changed! No joke you guys, when people say changing your diet is life changing they are not kidding. So yes, I am a Vegan and I am happy. I am healthy, and lucky to be.

With all that being said, if you know anyone or YOU yourself have gone through gallbladder issues like myself please feel free to reach out! I would love to help, share recipes, or even just be there to talk. It’s not easy completely restructuring your diet and lifestyle trust me, I know. So if I can help ease someones transition in any way I would be happy to help.

The Gypsy Mama

Gypsy Secrets – A Hidden Treasure Natural + Organic Skincare

Here’s a secret everyone should know… in 2018 whats the most important thing we can all do for ourselves? Besides our overall wellness and health, it would be taking care of our bodies and most importantly our skin. You only get one skin, and it happens to be the largest living organ on our bodies. The next question you need to ask yourself is, how important is using a natural and SAFE certified organic product to you? If you answered very important, sort of important, or even just a little or maybe? Then keep reading because this brand new skincare line I am about to introduce to you is going to have your mind blown.

This line has ingredients that are exotic, and nutrient rich that are derived from around the world. Some of the ingredients used are high in antioxidants, such as (Kakadu Plum) nature’s highest sources of Vitamin C, antibacterial properties, anti-fungal, and anti-aging A & E. This phenomenal plant-based line has the richest, most luscious ingredients. Not only does the product smell amazing, and feel great on the skin but it really does work. The ultraviolet glass packaging is to protect the product from light that can be very harmful to these natural ingredients. I have been exclusively using Gypsy Secrets for the past 2 weeks now and I can confidently say that I am noticing a difference in the radiance of my skin. My over excessive natural oils have also calmed down since using the oil cleanser. Not to mention I’ve seen a major boost in hydration from using the super C repair balm.

I have been using the Aboriginal Clarifying Cleanser to wash my face morning and evening. The texture of this cleanser is so silky smooth. It melts right into the skin, and removes makeup, dirt and impure oils from the skin, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and renewed. I tend to run oily, so at first the thought of using an oil cleanser to cleanse my face was terrifying, but I promise you it’s actaully much better than using a gel or oil-free cleanser. When we over-purify our skin from our natural oils it reacts as if something is attacking it. It then sends a message to our body to make more oil. When in reality oil + oil = balance. That’s why our dermatologists and estheticians tell us to only use a scrub 1-2 times per week. This cleanser is excellent for all skin types though! It has Kakadu Plum which is natures highest source of Vitamin C, it helps brighten the skin and boost your collagen (who doesn’t need want an extra collagen boost?!) The Australian Macadamia oil is used to help clarify the skin. The lemon myrtle is a natural antiseptic, and is high in Vitamin A & E. I highly recommend giving this phenomenal cleanser a try! I would say 1-2 pumps is all you need for your entire face, massage into the skin until theres a slip then press a warm towel against the skin to activate the oils and remove the cleanser.

The other product from Gypsy Secrets I have been using exclusively is their Amazonian Super C Repair Balm. This balm is nutrient rich with Camu Camu and Acai Berry. These South American butters have plenty of fatty acids and antioxidants such as Vitamin A & E, minerals and Omega-3. All of which are found to be extremely anti-aging. With having the highest sources of vitamin C (next to Kakadu Plum) this balm is excellent for someone who has dehydrated skin or for normal to oily skin just apply in places as needed. You can even use this balm on your body on your extra dry areas (such as your cuticles, elbows, knees and dry heels). It works excellent as a healing balm for a sunburn too! It can even work as a tinted skin balm for a natural healthy glow when mixing in a tiny bit of mineral powder too! The texture of this balm is supple and smooth it melts right into the skin. I have an oily skin type so for me I apply as needed, and use about a pea size amount for my entire face. This leaves my skin soft and supple with a radiant glow.

With niche skincare lines being all the rage right now, I found that this line was not only fitting for my brand but also my skincare needs. I mean how perfect is it that The Gypsy Mama and Gypsy Secrets come together as one? It was destiny, and I am so thrilled to have found this phenomenal skincare line that will now be apart of my everyday skincare regimen. (I seriously don’t know how I would live without this cleanser!)

I also have a 20% off promo code + *FREE SHIPPING* (for the month of July ONLY!) for you guys to use to try out some of these amazing products! Just use promo code “GypsyChild20” at checkout and enjoy your discount & new goodies!

The woman behind this amazing line Gypsy Secrets was inspired by her global travels and by ancient beauty rituals. To read more about her story and the wonderful creator of Gypsy Secrets head over to her website. I truly love working with brands and people who put their hearts into their products. I can truthfully say Sherry has her whole heart into this line. Gypsy Secrets is a USDA certified organic product that is also cruelty-free, sustainably-sourced, free of parabens and harmful chemical preservatives. I was gifted this product for my honest review.

The Mask Trend, What’s the hype all about? How important is it? TruSelf Organics Detoxifying Mask Review

So what’s the hype all about you ask? Detoxifying? Smoothing? Firming? Anti-Aging? So many to choose from… so which one is the right one for you? Well it depends on what type of skin you have, and what you want to achieve. Working in the beauty industry for the past 10 years has really opened up my eyes as to why it is so important to know these two simple things. This diagnosing process allows much ease as to which products will work best for you, and achieve the results you’re aiming for.  With skincare being as influential as it is now more than ever, taking care of your skin must be pretty important you’d think? Well it is! Making sure you’re taking care of your skin and having a simple regimen is the first step to assuring your skin looks and feels the way you want it to. With all that being said I am going to take you through my personal experience with TruSelf Organics Detoxifying Mask and why it works for me! (I absolutely love that this company was founded by a mama of two kiddos this makes me love the brand even more, I am all about mom’s supporting other working mom’s and shopping small!)

IMG_8375Disclosure: This product was sent to me in trade for a review, all opinions and thoughts are my own, no links are affiliate links.

The first thing that actually attracted me to this brand was the fact that they use organic materials. I was also surprised to find out they are also vegan, and cruelty free! No colorants, no artificial fragrance, parabens or harmful chemicals. They are all hand-crafted, and this specific mask is blended with: Calcium Bentonite Clay, White Kaolin Clay, Rose Kaolin Clay, Moroccan Red Clay, Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, Dead Sea Clay, Epsom Salt, White Willow Bark Extract. They’ve already sold me right there, now for the real test, trying the product out and see how it reacts with my skin type! I tend to run on the combo/oily side depending on my diet, and the season. So now that it is getting into those warmer months I am definitely going to run oily, which is the perfect time to be trying out a detoxifying mask. I do also tend to get mild breakouts when I am under a ton of stress or for other female reasons. So I am all about a mask that will pull out all of the impurities and toxins underlying deep in my skin! Another huge bonus this mask only runs you at $19.00 so it is very cost effective. If measured out properly (you mix equal parts of the powdered mask and water or their mixing solution) you can get up to 20 uses out of it! Speaking of measuring for only $13.00 they also sell an all natural bamboo mixing bowl, measuring spoon and a bamboo brush applicator.

Let’s put it to the test! After trying this mask out for the past 4 weeks, I can honestly say I am truly pleased with the results! They recommend using this mask 2-5 times per week (depending on your skin, and your current regimen). I chose to use it 3 times per week at night before I went to sleep. When you’re sleeping is when your skin is healing the most so I felt that using a detoxifying mask at night before I applied my night cream was most beneficial for my skin. Every single time after removing the mask I noticed my pores were minimized and my skin just felt so fresh and pure. If you have an oiler skin type using a detoxifying or purifying mask even 2-3 times a week can help with the excessive oil production in your skin! Even if you’re on the dryer side this mask could still benefit you using it 1-2 times per week to balance you’re overall PH balance. TruSelf Organics also now offers their new smoothing mask for someone with a very dry skin type or even just combination skin! I am happy to say this mask will continue to have a home with me and a place in my skincare regimen!

What’s the HUM all about?

As some of you may know, I have partnered up with Hum Nutrition to try out some of their best selling products. This year I told myself I wanted to be more cautious about not only what I put on my body but also what I put inside of my body. It only makes sense that I reviewed their Arctic Repair Supplement being that I am a huge advocate of anti-aging products. This unique formula is blended with lingonberry seed oil for complete skin rejuvenation. It also has Vitamin A + E. This helps with the skins elasticity and all over hydration. This particular item is “limited supply” and is only available on their website. I highly recommend this product! I have been using it now for 3 weeks and I am seeing a huge improvement around my eye area. My skin is normally combo/oily, but with this dry weather we have been having in Southern California, I can use all the hydration I can get!

The second supplement I have been taking is for my overall completion and shiny hair. This product is called Red Carpet, and is the number one seller in Sephora. I have noticed a drastic difference in my hair, it’s much shiner and a lot softer. I have bleach blonde hair so it’s normally pretty coarse due to all of the processing. The first week I started taking the Red Carpet Supplements I immediately started receiving compliments on how my hair looked healthier. One thing I also really love about this product is that it is super affordable! It is only $25.00, which is such a great price point.

The third supplement I recieved is called Big Chill. When I was looking over Hum Nutrition’s website one of the first things I noticed was they had a supplement that was made to cope with signs of stress. This instantly caught my eye! I have a high stress level corporate job that I do outside of my blogging and being a mom that takes a lot of my patience and energy. So the idea of taking a natural plant based supplement vs taking prescribed medication sounded like an excellent idea that I could not pass up! I will say that I am very pleased with this product, as it does bring a calming effect to my everyday tasks. Who wouldn’t want to try a more natural alternative to stress relief that can help with everyday struggles?

Lastly, I was so intrigued by Hum’s “Raw Beauty” Superfood Powder that I had to give this one a try! If you’re like me, and you’re always on the go and you drink a TON of coffee but don’t enjoy the crash you get later in the day then you’re going to need to give this product a try. I absolutely LOVED that it gave me natural source of energy, and it was SO easy to add into my daily routine. I simply just add a scoop into my morning glass of water before a leave the house. I have noticed that the days I forgot to take this product that my energy levels were significantly lower. A huge bonus is that it also has probiotics, which I am sure you know are all the rave right now in order lower your chances of getting sick. I have been using the Gingersnap Infusion flavor but they also have other options on their website to chose from.

So overall my experience with Hum Nutrition has been very positive and I would definately recommend this brand to my friends, family and co-workers. If you’re in the market for some new dietary supplements then I suggest you give this brand a try. They have excellent customer service, and they even provide the option to have an online consultation by a certified nutritionist on their website! Side note — when I was out and about shopping last week I noticed that Nordstrom’s (one of my favorite retailers) carries Hum! So if you’re not a huge online shopper and you’d like to see their products in person check them out at Sephora or Nordstrom’s.

Hand-Crafted Custom Jewelry by Happy Cactus Brand

I am so excited to share with you guys my most recent collaboration with Happy Cactus Brand aka Jess. She is seriously one of the sweetest chicks ever, and her jewelry is hand-crafted to perfection! When I first received my package in the mail I was so thrilled (no like seriously, so freaking excited). Everything down to the packaging and branding were on point! (This girl knows her stuff and has major style!)

I decided to have her customize a bar necklace for me that says, “The Gypsy Mama” and a dainty gold cuff that says, “a gypsy soul, a wild heart” and no joke just the few times I’ve already worn them out I have had so many people ask me where I got them from! The best part about Jess and her super rad brand is A. The name obviously lol Happy Cactus Brand? (She had me at Cactus lol) I mean seriously is that not the cutest brand name you’ve ever heard of? Who wouldn’t want to buy jewelry from a brand with that rad of a name?! B. Her stuff is so stinking cute, and the quality is impeccable! C. It is super affordable. I know that you all know how popular those “bar necklaces” are and a lot of other shops that I checked out were double if not triple the price of hers! So truthfully, if you want excellent customer service; some really fun packaging and a unique custom made piece of jewelry that is going to last then head over to her shop now! She has some adorable dainty rings on sale for Valentine’s Day too.
